You know Eton shirts. But have you ever slept on one?

Eton is known for its shirts. For exceptional cotton, beautiful weaves and fabrics designed to feel good against the skin – and to stay that way, wear after wear.

But not every metre of the fabric becomes a shirt. When we came across surplus fabrics originally made for Eton's shirt production, we saw something far too beautiful to be left unused. The same fine cotton. The same quality. The same attention to how a fabric feels, falls and lasts. It simply needed a new purpose.

Bed linen felt like a natural one. What was once designed to be worn, was now designed to be slept in.

Sleep on Eton

Our collection of bed linen is made from surplus cotton originally produced for Eton shirts. The fabrics come in different twill weaves, giving them their characteristic softness, strength and beautiful drape. But what we love most is the feeling of the fabric itself: cool and smooth against the skin, soft without being delicate, and made to become even more familiar with time.

We wanted to keep a small trace of its first life. Each duvet cover is finished with mother-of-pearl buttons, a quiet nod to the shirt the fabric was once intended to become.

Our bed linen is cut and sewn locally in Oslo, in small quantities. Working with surplus fabrics means that we cannot simply decide how much to produce. We work with what already exists. Some fabrics allow us to make more, others only a handful. When a fabric is gone, it is gone. We like that.

Because Atelier Marguerite is never about making more for the sake of making more. It is about recognising the value in what already exists: beautiful materials, good craftsmanship and objects made to be lived with for a long time.

Perhaps that is what luxury means to us. Not more, but better.

Warm wishes,
Julie, Sandra and Celine
